Terms of Service
Last updated 2 November 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Ann-Elizabeth Wittke, trading as BookHook Crafter, based in Germany (“we”, “us”). When you use BookHook Crafter, you are contracting with Ann-Elizabeth Wittke.
1. Accepting these terms
By creating an account or continuing to use BookHook Crafter, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Notice. If you use BookHook Crafter for a business, you confirm you have authority to bind that business. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live.
2. What BookHook Crafter does
BookHook Crafter is an online tool for fiction authors. You add your own manuscript, and BookHook Crafter uses artificial intelligence (AI) to suggest social media hooks, on-screen text, captions and hashtags, plus an overlay designer and a posting planner.
3. Your account
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your login details confidential. You’re responsible for activity under your account.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed your account.
4. Plans, payment and cancellation
BookHook Crafter has a free plan and paid monthly plans, plus optional one-off launch packs. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of hook searches and of captions and rewrites, as shown on the Plans page. Paid plans renew automatically each month until you cancel. When you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Unused monthly allowances don’t carry over; launch pack searches don’t expire.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund terms are set out in Paddle’s Buyer Terms. See also our Refund Policy.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use BookHook Crafter to:
- break any law, or help anyone else do so;
- commit fraud, send spam, or impersonate anyone;
- upload text you don’t have the right to use, or infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark or other rights;
- create illegal content, sexual content involving minors, hate speech, harassment, content that promotes violence, or deceptive deepfakes of real people;
- interfere with BookHook Crafter’s security, including spreading malware, probing or testing for weaknesses, scraping, or overloading the service;
- try to get around the AI’s safety filters (“jailbreaking”), plan allowances or other technical limits;
- reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute BookHook Crafter.
6. Your manuscript, prompts and AI results
- You keep all rights in the manuscripts and other text you add. You confirm you own it or have permission to use it.
- You give us a limited licence to store and process your content only to provide BookHook Crafter to you. We don’t share your manuscript with other users and don’t use it for anything other than generating your hooks.
- As far as we’re able to, we give you any rights we have in the hooks, captions and other results generated for you. Similar results may be generated for other users, so we can’t promise yours are unique.
- You’re responsible for what you enter, how you use the results, and checking them before you post. AI results can be inaccurate, repetitive or unsuitable, and BookHook Crafter’s “TikTok-safe” filter can’t guarantee that any platform will accept a post.
7. Content moderation and copyright complaints
We may remove or restrict content, refuse or filter AI results, and suspend accounts to keep BookHook Crafter safe and lawful. If you believe content on BookHook Crafter infringes your rights, email annelizabethbriars@gmail.com with details of the work and where it appears. We will investigate, and accounts that infringe repeatedly will be closed.
8. Our intellectual property
We own BookHook Crafter and all its intellectual property, including the software, design, documentation and branding. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use BookHook Crafter for your own writing within your plan.
9. Availability
We work hard to keep BookHook Crafter running well, but we don’t guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Features that rely on outside services, such as the weekly trend roundup, may change or stop working. We may update BookHook Crafter from time to time.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, don’t pay, or create a security or fraud risk. You can stop using BookHook Crafter and ask us to delete your account at any time. When your account ends, your books, manuscripts and hooks are deleted within 30 days, so export anything you want to keep first.
11. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, BookHook Crafter is provided “as is”, without implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. We aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, sales or data. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, death or personal injury, fraud, or any liability that can’t be limited under German law, including the German Product Liability Act. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using BookHook Crafter after that, you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Germany. If you’re a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring claims in your local courts.
